University of Delaware Professor Receives Award for Exposing Brainwashing

“When did you discover your sexual identity?”

Bill Rivers felt uncomfortable as a freshman at the University of Delaware when the University asked him that and other similar questions at “Resident Life” training. He also disagreed with the University's belief that “all white people” are “racist.” He didn't think it was fair that the University singled out students who disagreed with its views for "reprogramming” during training.

Sophomore year when he told his advisor, professor Jan Blits, about the multicultural indoctrination program, he found out the program was illegal. With the help of Professor Blits and the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE), Rivers was able to bring enough negative media attention to the program his sophomore year that the University's President suspended it.

Last month, the Michael Grebe of the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation awarded Professor Blits the Jeane Jordan Kirkpatrick Academic Freedom Award at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) for his role in the controversy.  The $10,000 award is given each year to a person who has done an outstanding job of upholding academic freedom and free speech at America's colleges and universities.
